ASCD (Formerly the Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development) and the International Society for Technology Education (ISTE

The ASCD mission states that "ASCD empowers educators to achieve excellence in learning, teaching, and leading so that every child is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged." For 75 years the organization has worked side by side with educators from every level in all 50 US states and more than 200 countries.  As of January 1, 2023, ASCD is merging with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).

In 2023 ASCD merged with the International Society for Technology Education (ISTE) offering j0int services and programs

ISTE's mission is to empower educators to re-imagine and redesign learning through impactful pedagogy and meaningful technology use. We achieve this by offering transformative professional learning, fostering vibrant communities, and ensuring that digital tools and experiences are accessible and effective.

ASCD has been the recognized leader of the whole child approach to schooling since 2007. The WC approach has evolved into a comprehensive framework and philosophy that emphasizes equity and achievement for all. ASCD has:
  • published an extensive school improvement/whole child planning tool
  • created and supported as global network of schools and school districts implementing the whole child approach
  • co-published a statement on the whole child approach as being central to high quality education with Education International (global teachers federation)
  • co-published and promoted a statement on how health and social programs should be integrated within education systems rather than pushed as an additional burden on educators
  • promoted leadership on inclusive school change in webinars and books such as Seven Steps to Lead Inclusive School Transformation (See the recorded webinar and handout) and The Way to Inclusion: How Leaders Create Schools Where Every Student Belongs
