Planned Webinars on Policies & Practices to Develop, Strengthen and Enhance the Contributions & Leadership from Educators in Education & Other Sectors.
The following web-based sessions are being planned to highlight the roles of various types of educators and to provide input into the upcoming 2024-25 UNESCO report on educational leadership. The objectives are to:
  • describe the evidence-based and experience-tested roles played by several categories of educators working at different levels in school and other systems to promote excellence, inclusion and equity
  • identify the policies and good employment practices that develop, strengthen and enhance the contributions of a variety of educators as well as their leadership roles within education systems and communities
  • encourage education and other authorities to develop and maintain long-term differentiated workforce planning and professional development strategies that maximize the contributions and leadership for all professionals.
Information related to the statement includes:
  • Read the Joint Statement
  • Endorse the Joint Statement & Review the list of organizations/individuals supporting it.
  • Edit or comment on the Position Paper
  • Review the discussion paper and Join in the dialogue on the building coherence in the key steps and elements of school and other systems that need to be considered in systems change. Review or prepare one page summaries on the steps and/or the elements of school and other systems
  • Participate in the webinars related to the statement and school system change.
  • Read about the UN/Global Initiatives  on transforming schools
  • Follow News & Activities related to the Joint Statement
  • Make contact with the global educator organizations

Rebuilding, Renewing & Transforming School Systems:
Opportunities, Challenges & Relevance to UN/Global Initiatives


This session will provide an overview of the joint statement (prepared for the first time by several educator organizations)defining key principles and processes/challenges in rebuilding after the Covid pandemic, renewing commitments to inclusion and equity as per Sustainable Development Goal 4 & transforming school and other systems for the future. The statement was prepared for the UN Transforming Education Summit but is very relevant to local school system reform efforts as well as several UN/global initiatives such as the UNESCO Recommendation/education policy framework for member states, the OECD Declaration on equity and recent UN meetings/initiatives on the renewing the SDGs, pandemic preparedness, and UN guidance to countries on followup to the UN Summit.  The statement will be a backdrop to participants discussing policy, practical and political challenges from the perspective of practicing educators. Participants will share insights and information on school system transformation.
